Iposen Biopharm

Car park lighting, roadway lighting and Amenity Area lighting at the Ipsen Pharma Plant in Wrexham were provided with 5 Optra Luminaires.

These high performance, Architectural and low glare Luminaires are designed specifically for quality car park lighting.  To maximise architectural appearance,  they are often used in adjoining road and amenity areas.

With full optical cut-off, they are dark-skies friendly.  The superior reflector system allow for wide spacings between the Poles without any reduction in lighting uniformity. The Capital savings on Poles, Luminaires and in installation (wiring, trenching etc) ensures this is one of the most competitive ways to illuminate a car park.  Typically 1 Luminaire will illuminate an area of 50m x 50m.

Energy savings, robust low maintenance operation and long life lamps (typically 20,000 to 30,000 hours average) are on-going benefits.  There is also an option for dimming so luminaires operate at half power during low peak hours.

Also shown in the photo are functional Louvered Bollards for pathway illumination.  Bollard lighting is now offered with integral motion Sensors so they are only at full illumination level when there are pedestrians nearby.

Marine & Crane Floodlighting

Crane lights & Marine Floodlighting

Crane lighting has requirements which exceed normal Floodlighting.  The Floodlighting needs to be very robust as the Cranes are generally mobile.  Constant vibration will weaken the lamps and very often standard Floodlights will simply fall apart after a relatively short period.

In addition, the electrical supply on a Crane can vary significantly causing more electrical stress and early failures.   Because many Cranes are in Harbours and Ports, there is constant corrosion from the marine environment.  This is compounded by extreme temperature variations in many parts of the World and also between night and day time temperatures.

The 2 main Ports in Dubai were relit with Heavy Duty 1000w Marine  Floodlights to provide white light and high light levels.  The crane lights were mounted on existing Container Cranes.  The contrast between the old Floodlights and the new scheme was so great that  the remaining Floodlights were also changed.  The new Crane Floodlights have special anti-vibration protection and high tolerance against voltage swings, which is often an issue on Crane lighting units.  These Robust Floodlights are designed for robust long life even in extreme temperatures.  The Luminaire is the most heavy duty Product of its type on the market (to our knowledge).

These Crane lighting and Marine Floodlights are in use in many Marine areas including many UK locations including most of Portsmouth Harbour UK, Durban in South Africa, New York Port, New Zealand, Africa, and many of the Gulf States, etc.

General/Sports Hall Lighting

Grande Salle Lausanne

Usually, VeeLite high Bays would be installed in heavy duty, industrial lighting environments, such as Aircraft Hangers, Power Plants, etc.  Its heavy duty construction  has made it a favourite in such applications.

However, it is often used  in Sports Hall lighting and for lighting General purpose Halls.

In the above photo, it was chosen by Swiss Architects for this local Project in Lausanne, Switzerland.  For this Project, the Luminaire is  equipped with instant on/off lighting control.   From time to time, we have supplied heavy duty industrial lighting Products into non-industrial applications where an industrial look was required by the Architect or Interior Designer.

Underground Car Park Lighting

Zooetmeer Holland Parkdisc

This underground car park project was supplied recently using 52 x Parkdisc luminaires.

The car park  in Rotterdam, Holland is also the entrance to a Retail Complex and the Parkdisc was chosen because of its slim architectural appearance.   The Local Authority has used many VeeLite Products over the years including the Supralite for external parking area and the Parklite for bridge Underpasses as well as conventional car parks.

Typically, the Parkdisc is used in Hotels and Retail centres for its slim appearance.   Sometimes, the first impression of a new Hotel or Shopping Centre that a Visitor will get may be the car park lighting.

The Parkdisc is also ideal for car parks which are not busy (eg. Apartment Blocks) because an internal occupancy Sensors can  be provided for energy saving.  This ensures that the lighting switches off (or to low) when there is no traffic nearby.   (For safety, there is a time delay on the Sensors and also some Luminaires are left on permanently).
