Train Station Lighting

Railway Station, Westland St

As most standard High Bay lighting is inefficient,  it provides an excellent option to either increase light levels significantly or alternatively keep the same light level but save significantly on energy costs and achieve a quick payback.

Westland Row DART  (Dublin Area Rapid Transport)  station is one of the largest and busiest train stations in Dublin.  In this case, the operator opted to increase light levels significantly.  The existing standard High Bay lighting was removed and new high performance WideBays were installed.  No new wiring was required.

The new WideBay Luminaires also provides a higher level of vertical illumination in comparison with most Luminaires, typically 2 or 3 times greater.  This benefit provides  greater comfort and safety to users, as the visibility of the sides of the Train including the Doors are greatly enhanced.

Average re-lamping is at 20,000 hours and these 400w lamps provide almost 50,000 lumens output, so the scheme is highly efficient and also maintenance friendly.  The WideBay is widely used in Industrial High Bay projects and in Warehouses.   A recessed version is available for the Clean Room or Food Industries.

In most cases, VeeLite can advise (without any cost) whether your lighting is efficient or not.  Send us a photograph and the wattage and code on the Lamp (Bulb) and we can offer an opinion.
