Durrow Town in County Laois was recently relit with LED Heritage Street Lights. Until the M8 motorway opened in 2008, all the Dublin – Cork traffic would pass along its main street.
The new lighting consists of 19 x Single Merrions 110w LED on 8m Tubular Columns (as shown below) and 1 x Twin Merrion 110w on an 8m Column. These 21 Merrion Street Lights all have a deep Polycarbonate lens. These provide the illumination of the main road through the Town. For adjoining areas, smaller roads and pedestrian areas, 18 x Heritage Lanterns 40w LED were supplied together with 5m Tubular poles supplied with decorative embellishment kits. (Two of these can be seen be in the background of the photo below).
All Luminaires were supplied with DALI dimmable gear and a Selc powerline controller to link with a Laois County Council management system. VeeLite supply CLO (Constant Light Output) and Programmable Dimming/Part-Night Dimming at no extra cost as standard.
The Merrion Luminaire is available in 2 sizes – the standard size above, plus a smaller size for use with optics to 70w LED max. There is also a choice of deep polycarbonate Lens (as shown) or a shallow lens to reduce windage and for more discreet lighting. A choice of Brackets includes the Swan-neck type shown, as well as several horizontal types and wall brackets.

The Heritage Lantern can be supplied with/without the lens (on 4 vertical sides) to reduce windage and for more discreet lighting effect.
